She's a peasant unicorn from a poor inarable land, who discovered with magic she could give herself wings 24/7. Seeing a neighboring wealthy country in the midst of a civil war, she joined one side as the 'missing sister' of Celestia and Luna, and after leading one engagement pretended to fall for the other side's prince, agreeing to marry him if hostilities would cease.
The moral of the episode will be how little petty political differences matter and should not be the reason behind causing so much starvation across the countryside, as prince and princess get the mane 6 to speak with their in-laws as mediators in putting the civil war (which is actually a series of increasingly strict embargoes against either side) to rest for good. Twilight discovers her secret, and agrees to keep it after stating a secret nopony knows which could cause harm, is a secret nopony needs to know. Cadence is pleased with this assurance but Twilight is conflicted about 'lying for the greater good.' When she finally sends her letter, Celestia too is confused and saddened by the news and doesn't know the best way to handle it either. (Cadence cares for her ponies but is keeping the peace with an ever-growing web of deceit instead of being an open and benevolent ruler like Celestia) |
