Here's what I meant, we name him so we don't have to keep tagging him pony_with_many_names or something like that, you can still call him what you want but what I meant was a name to use in tags or fanfiction or artwork and stuff.

Reason why I usually go for Nathan or Russel is because I feel having a non-pony sounding name suits the little guy. He seems to have a lot of qualities that stand apart from other foals. Hell, it wouldn't surprise me if he turned out to be a burro.
Not sure where the name "Nathan" originated from. For all I know I should probably condemn it for the same reasons I would the name "Gaben". But I support it mostly because he reminds me of a certain non-brony I know named Nathan. This is completely an inside-joke on my part, though, but my preference to the name stands. I also like the name Russell (in reference to the character from Up) because it seems that it stems less from a mockery of his weight and more just general similarities. Sure, the phenotype is part of that, but it seems to be less the driving force. As for the names like Gaben and Truffle Shuffle, I personally dislike them as they seem to stem pretty much entirely from the fact that he's overweight. (And before you assume I'm a butthurt fatass, I'm actually only 103 lbs.) This character has a unique design about him, I feel it would be a waste to boil him down to something so trivial. |
