That's an idea.
I personally like to think that the ponies in the show speak/write some Equestrian tongue, and what we're hearing (and in some cases, seeing) is translated into some human equivalent, including idioms and phrases like "for Pete's sake". that's probably thinking too much but whatever who cares |

Fun fact: The Pete of "For Pete's sake" is St. Peter. The phrase was used as a replacement for cursing in order to avoid offending St. Peter and being barred from entering heaven.
Kind of odd that ponies would use such a phrase. Then again, idioms tend to stick around forever. |
