Yeah, but that's Slug's thing. Liefeld doesn't draw broken skeletons covered in muscle because that's his style, he does it because he's completely incompetent and just doesn't give a fuck. He shouldn't have a freaking job in the comic industry. |

Well, if people are willing to pay Slug $60 for a drawing and then they're happy with what they get, good for them. I wouldn't, but that's just me. I wouldn't pay for a punch in the face either, but some people would.
Now, if Slug, with that style, worked in the comic book industry I would be saying pretty nasty things about it. And I still think Liefeld fails even harder at anatomy. |

Yes, I agree, Slugbox's anatomy is incorrect, and yes I agree that his people look shiny and plastic. But that doesn't make him a bad artist. I enjoy his artstyle because of that, because its unusual and its different. I mean, its art! Where is is written that art has to make sense? Also, claiming that people who enjoy his work need to get their head checked, is like saying that I have mental issues simply because I don't find myself sexually or romantically attracted to anything. |

Actually The fact that you created the image above says the exact opposite. Art is art not because its good, but because of how it inspires people, whether it be negative or positive. You look at Slugbox's artwork and you know that you dislike it, obviously enough to question its methods. Therefore Slugbox's artwork inspires you to do something, it brings an emotion out of you. An artist who's artwork inspires any sort of emotion in the people viewing it is successful. The only unsuccessful artist is the one who's artwork fails to affect people in any emotional way. |

even good artists can stand to improve. even artists you like can get better at what they do. even a nice picture can have errors. criticism need not serve as condemnation but can be a call to do better. the real "bad" artists are the ones that get complacent and don't feel the need to hone their skills. etc etc etc |
