Oh yes! If they do a Daring Do side series...*squee* |
| Anonymous #1034985 4 months ago |
Yeah, daring do seems like it would be a good choice for something like this. |
| PVRyohei #1034992 4 months ago |
I'm still praying for them to make a CMC spin-off. |
| CallMeAl #1034995 4 months ago |
Wait. They're going to give a pony of our choosing a side-story? Let's see, which pony could we possibly want to expand uponDERPY.
Duh. She could go around saving the world completely by accident, and be totally oblivious to it. |
| Anonymous #1034998 4 months ago |
I'd call it "My Little Pony: Beyond Equestria."
Staring an aged-up Pipsqueak, he explores the outreaches of the land in a fantasy-setting that focuses on drama and tension between species. Learn about the trade-oriented, almost mafia-like society of the Diamond Dogs, see parallels between the militaristic Griffon State and Sparta, and even learn the origins of Discord and other pseudo-gods. |
| MidnightLance #1034999 4 months ago |
Heck yes i wana see more of Rainbow Da.. Eeerrr "Daring Do" XP |
| KlinKitty #1035001 4 months ago |
There's already a Daring Do page on TVTropes. For stories that don't exist. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/JustForFun/DaringDo
...sometimes, I think bronies are a leetle crazy. And I love it. |
| Anonymous #1035006 4 months ago |
I'm honestly sort of channeling The Last Airbender with that suggestion. You know, maybe a war of some sort, powerful magic, allies from different lands.
Maybe even the deaths of a few loved ones. And I think we can all agree, no matter what, there must be seaponies. |

I think it should be said that this is just a hypothetical discussion topic. Seth didn't make it clear, but that's what I'm assuming. He does stuff like this a lot. |
| Anonymous #1035065 4 months ago |
No aliens? But ancient biblical fairy tales are okay...
I swear, people are hating on Kingdom of the crystal skull way too much. I would rather believe alien story line than a fucking magical box that melts peoples faces. -_- |

| Littlecabbit #1035141 4 months ago |
@Coltte
Of course! how could I forget poor Twist!? |
| forthelulz #1035160 4 months ago |
For younger male audience? like transformers? with explosions and stuff?
neat |
| PVRyohei #1035167 4 months ago |
@Gentle_Coltte_of_Leisure
A CMC spin-off would probably also have some focus on the whole younger cast. |
| Gentle_Coltte_of_Leisure #1035189 4 months ago |
You can never have too much Twist, PVR. |
| Anonymous #1035209 4 months ago |
A SITCOM WITH DERPY AND DINKY AND CARROT TOP LIVING IN THE SAME HOUSE! |
| PVRyohei #1035226 4 months ago |
@Gentle_Coltte_of_Leisure
Never. She's probably the most underrated character on the show. But I have to admit, it took quite some time for her to grow on me. |
| Frisby #1035233 4 months ago |
This is a discussion topic, not an actual thing. Chill out folks. |

A sphinx with identity issues, a beach bum yeti, and a naga covering for his insecurities by being douchey, all work together on Equestria's number one game show:

EVERYPONY SHUT UP A SECONDWhat if we had a side series that was just all the side characters? Like each episode had different side characters starring? One episode might start Twist, another would be Gilda and Trixie, and another might be Octavia and Scratch, and yet another could be Derpy, Lyra, Bonbon, and Doctor Whooves! |
| Littlecabbit #1035271 4 months ago |
Ponyville Chronicles? yeah, I like those kinda stories |
| Karthek #1035317 4 months ago |
Doctor Whooves and Derpy or Zecora.
The Whooves spinoff would be filled with time-travel antics while Zecora's spinoff would be filled with kickass adventures and mad rhyming skills. |
| GaianLuck #1035656 4 months ago |
While Daring Doo would be a great add on program, I think if you're targeting young males, you need a male character. Also Daring Doo would open up a big can of infringement worms that would have to be sifted through with a fine tooth comb by a legal team, making it not worth the cost. Unfortunately the same is true of Dr. Whooves.
If you wanted a superhero idea, you could go with Fancy Pants or Blue Blood shifting out of their public personae in order to battle the criminal element, though I'd move the setting from Canterlot to Manehatten or Fillydelphia, as the presence of the princesses and the major HQ of the royal guard would make it less interesting if they have such a big unknown, overpowering force right no their doorsteps. Or if that doesn't catch your fancy, a Soarin' centered Wonderbolts series, where the focus is getting the next big stunt to look even better and bolder than before. Another option would be a coming-of-age Spike, where he finally decides to break from the shadow of being an assistant, and pursuing his own ambitions. The drawback would be you would have to remove him from FiM in order to avoid paradox. Even if you put it in the future there would be glaring plot holes if Spike says that he's never dealt with something, and then it's a major plot point in FiM six eps later. My personal favorite would be a Big Mac spin-off. It'd be heavy on internal monologue and introspection, as he goes to lead a life away from Ponyville, and start his own orchard in a new town. Perhaps a look at what it's like to live as a male in a matriarchal society starting his own business. I suppose the same could be true of Braeburn, but I think he's just a bit too outgoing and likable to make the series interesting. |

"The Trixie Variety Show"
There's the name. You figure out the rest. |
| DracoHandsome #1035742 4 months ago |
better idea would be to make a daring doo video game but that's gonna have to wait a few years for pony to gain more momentum |

"I think if you're targeting young males, you need a male character" - Hell no! That'd be most un-brony.
I wouldn't watch any show that does not keep the original's, for a lack of a better word, femininity. (They aren't really female-only values, just stuff shows usually don't acknowledge boys have or should have.) I don't really want or need anything. Anything the show doesn't give, the fanartist give us. I couldn't be more content. What I'd want is for Hasbro to hire all the wonderful fanartists we have, to create an all new series. It can still be pony. But anything equestria-prevails. john joseco and all the others would create would be infinitely greater than any current-show fanfiction that we here can come up with. |
| GaianLuck #1036068 4 months ago |
I'm not saying it's not possible to get a boy interested in a female lead character, just that he's more likely to identify with a male lead, and if you're targeting an audience, you want to base it around something they're interested in. And societal norms currently push boys away from anything even mildly feminine. If you can come up with a good enough concept around a female lead, you might be able to make it stick, and change the currently abhorrent societal norm. But you're much more likely to miss the target audience, and drop a lot of capital in the process. |
| Dysons_Fear #1036194 4 months ago |
Oh god could you imagine writing a whole show around Zecora's dialogue? |
| Anonymous #1036287 4 months ago |
I would love to see more of the Everfree Forest, and in a show aimed at young boys we can get some more action adventure stuff. |

@GaianLuck
See, I think that's the kind of thinking that prevents more shows like FiM from being made. Fearing to deviate from social norms rather than being more perceptive about what the audiance is actually capable of. But I think you do have a point in gender identity still being an important point in something being marketed for small boys. So the question is, how can you utilize that "feminine" merit (this will still be a show about ponies; it won't be watched by those who only have an eye for say, Bakugan or Megas XLR) but make the show more masculine (with trucks and explosions and beef and muscles and life being hard and dangerous and all that stuff). Here's one that came to me thanks to @Gaian's comment: Make one about Pipsqueak, drawing from comics like Calvin and Hobbes and Yotsubato! Pipsqueak would be an energetic young filly who loves adventure, so he turns even everyday chores into adventure using his imagination. Though many tasks are difficult to him due to his age and small size he always succeeds with a mixture of fantasy, enthusiasm and foolhardy courage. But since I mentioned other giant robot and game shows now I'm also thinking, this has to be something that can make Hasbro sell more toys. So what would you try to sell, instead of pony dolls? Robots? Card games? Some other gadget? |
