I'm sorry if I offend anyone, but I hate the idea of Octavia and Vinyl Scratch in a relationship together. I cannot for the life of me see Octavia as a lesbian. Hearts and Hooves Day made me happy knowing that they put only straight parings in it. After being in this fandom since about March of last year, the whole "Everypony is a lesbian" thing has really gotten old. I always welcome straight parings if they make sense. But that's just my 2 cents. |

I'm not homophobic one bit, it's just after seeing so many lesbian pairings it gets old. I know a lot of it is just people joking but then you have the huge shipping fans like the FlutterMacs. There are some lesbian pairings I like but that's just because they grew on me like Lyra and Bonbon. |

I've been in this fandom for about 12 months now. Within a week of getting into the show I accepted that f/f pairings were the bread and butter of the fandom. It's kinda obvious that this fanbase would have a lot of lesbian shipping due to the fact that there is a disproportionately large amount of females for every male in the show. So there is naturally very few straight pairings, and a lot of lesbian pairings. As time has gone by, more straight pairings have come about, as well as a lot of m/m pairings.
At the end of the day, it's just shipping. Something that a lot of fans find entertainment in, that's all. I personally enjoy every pairing I see - even m/m. Why am I so accepting of pretty much every ship I see? Even of m/m ships (which isn't my thing)? Because it's easier to just enjoy everything than it is to bitch about things. |

You guys do realize you are talking about the sexuality of 2 candy colored animated ponies right? I like shipping but I hate when people take shipping too far as in trying to say what ponies should be with whom and discussing their sexual preferences. You don't find that shallow?
Blaze-Bolt has a point on how lesbian shippings get old after all the forced slash shippings that pop their heads in this fandom daily, 507 has a point on that we don't know anyponies sexuality except the couples that appeared in the Hearts and Hooves Day episode. So after all the force, all the slash shippings, is it really that big of a surprise when people say they're tired of lesbian pairings and how it's refreshing to see a good straight pairing? All this deciding on "who is gay and who is not" seems really immature to me, it's like in real life if people started to talk about your sexuality, how would you feel about it? Would you just go with the crowd or would you try to prove them wrong and show them who you really are? Even if it was the sexuality they were discussing? |

I think what's going on here is not bigotry, but a lack of satisfaction with shipping in general. Due to the woeful lack of male characters on the show, the fandom has resorted to the "every woman is gay" clause. This has lead to unfair assumptions on many of the character's sexualities and overall identities. Need I explain how unfair it is to say Rainbow Dash is a lesbian just because she's an athlete with a rainbow motif?
Yeah, some of you kids are bigots and need to go masturbate with razor blades, but as for the rest of you... Yeah, I feel ya. That's why I ship Rainbow Dash with Caramel, because fuck your assumptions. |
