Why? Because the first movies made some many buckets of money they needed bigger buckets to put those buckets in.
Honestly, I'm OK with this. I like watching shit explode pointlessly, and if there's one thing bay does better than anyone, it's making shit explode. |

And I can't knock the team that designed the 'bots. It's the writers and director you have to worry about. Those poor old editors and the post production team didn't know what hit 'em. |

According to Lauren Faust, the financial success of the first Transformers movie in 2007 was what prompted Hasbro to reboot the MLP franchise, ultimately leading to MLP:FiM.

No G4 hasn't run it's course yet, and is still selling big, if anything is to come from this it's some more MB transformer movies, toys, and other stuff related to the reboot. |

Really, with all the good Transformers series out there, it shouldn't be that hard to make a good live action TF movie that doesn't just go for the lowest common denominator. I'm sure there's no shortage of good writers/directors who could've looked at Revenge of the Fallen before it's released and say: "Okay, do we really need a scene with pot brownies in here? Let's minimize the screentime of Mudflap and Skidz because they aren't really funny or interesting." Changes and edits like that. I'm just sick of having the weakest points of the TF franchise also being the most publicized and visible. |
