^ What I want to know is why so many fan artists and writers think there's some cardinal sin about any characters remaining single. On top of that, the lack of male characters is pretty exaggerated-- they mostly just get ignored because for some reason, in this fandom there's an extreme bias towards lesbian ships. |

What's really ridiculous is that now that we have a lot of male characters, since everyone already has lesbian OTPs they just make all the male characters gay. It feels like there is barely any room for straight shipping in this fandom because the slash shippers get so defensive about their couples, and that's practically all we ever get to see in fan art.
I'll probably get flamed for this, but I hope that as this fandom gets more members we'll see more and more people who aren't part of the old establishment and aren't afraid of straight shipping characters like Octavia and Lyra. Just because people have been slash shipping the characters for a long time doesn't mean that straight shipping should get as little representation as it does. |

^^ I know that feel. Personally, I saw all the mane cast come off as straight (Dash maybe bi, and Pinkie is probably pansexual), so the only shipping I even slightly supported was like Fluttermac (I didn't really get into and start shipping it, I just thought "Of all the Mane six I imagine Big Mac with, it's her. Yes, it's not a very interesting couple, but hey, I enjoyed how cliche it was) and Spike with Rarity, Sweetie Belle, or Applebloom. Now it's definately Sparity, and personally I like Cheerimac. Other than that, I haven't realy seen any other male characters to go with the other 5. I can kind of picture Soarin' with either AJ or Dash, but idk. So yeah, mane six, I currently picture most of them as single until another character I find fitting shows up. (Sorry, can't get into Twixie. Now background characters are another thing. Lyrbon I really do like for some reason(one of the few homo ships I support), and Derpy and the Doctor has actually grown on me. Of course, if canon does anything contradicting to them, I'm likely to wipe it out. |
