Is "love and tolerate" really the creed of being a Brony, or is it liking the cartoon? A lot of confusion seems to exist about this, and frankly I think people expect too much of this fandom. "Love and tolerate" has never once been uttered in the show or any other official source, and I think it's kind of odd that people get so upset when they realize that not everyone in the fandom loves or tolerates everything. There's no "brony creed" creed defining either term, either, making it hopelessly vague in addition to being canologically iffy.

I am not justifying people's bad behavior-- however, just because some bronies like the "love and tolerate" mantra doesn't mean that there aren't cranky bronies out there. Every fandom has cranky people, and MLP's fandom may be unique, but it is not set apart.

That's some stupid shit there bro.

"Bronies" was a self-sarcastic refference and "love and tolerance" just a /b/'s counter-troll, not something to be proud of or follow as a "way of life". That's furfag level of autism if you take this shit seriously.

There's a very simple answer.

Okay? Okay. Let's carry on with our lives now.

I'm going to be a good person because I have a social conscious, not because a children's TV show told me to. This isn't a religion or political ideology, so stop acting like you should take all your cues on how to behave from this cartoon and its fandom.

I take love and tolerance seriously. Always have. I joined the brony community fairly early on and I always though of love and tolerance as a sort of "golden rule". It was nice when trolls came around, no one got raged and instead loved and tolerated their immature behavior. Now, if a troll comes around most bronies can be brought to rage fairly easily. I see it as an ideal bronies should strive for. Maybe it never was mentioned in the show, but it's a moral often portrayed in the show. Of course not EVERY brony has the patience or kindness to love and tolerate but it seems to have declined over time. That's just my view on it, anyways

I don't consider myself a brony. I'm just a fan of the show.

Love and Tolerance shouldn't be a community mandated edict because then it become artificial. Love doesn't mean just blindly patting someone on the head for everything they do and tolerence doesn't mean you shouldn't challenge other's opinions and ideals. To demand such is to impose an artificial code of behavior and whatever "love" or "tolerance" comes out of it is false.

Civility and Respect should be more valued than love and tolerance in my opinion

We like a show, we have some sort of inside humor and most of us might enjoy some fanart and to a lesser extent fanfics. That isn't a way of life or an ideology and watching a show selling plastic toys to little girls is not something you are to be proud about neither feel shame, but that's not the point! Start acting like adults and not as full-blown furries for crying out loud...

Addendum

Love and Tolerance aren't opposed to Hate and Anger in such a binary way. To do so reminds me of the scene in Donnie Darko when the kids were forced to chart their experiences on the "Love vs Fear" spectrum

Addendum Addendum: Pissing and moaning about fandom things you don't like is just immature. I don't like grimdark shit but I don't go bitching about it on Tumblr or click on grimdark pictures just to bitch about them in the comments...

I'm aware that I'm bitching about other people's bitching but if I draw any more attention to this, time and space will collapse under the metafaggotry

Whatever, man. I didn't take any vows when I decided to watch a TV show or browse a website looking for cool fanart.

come on guys...

Second, open 2 tabs on your favourite internet browser.

Last step is to sit back and enjoy the ride.
Remember, we are watching the modern virtual version of the gladiatorial shows, where nobody dies nor wins of course. Remember to resist the temptation of getting involved, and to not take anything said in the event seriously.

I hope you enjoy your evening as much as I will.
Till next time. Ta ta.

Simple: We all love this show and we don't need to be assholes to each other. This is just a decent way to be in general. I didn't know we require a reason to treat people nicely.

There's something wrong here if you take being a total prick to everyone as an acceptable approach.

By the way, if you really think the furry fandom is a big ball of love and tollerance, I'd say you don't know it that well.

Some people use the ponies for their outlet in tersms of pain and gore...While I think it's wrong, it's not my place to judge.

I never accepted that Terminology, as a matter of fact. People who say love and tolerance are even forcing something onto others. So Technically The bad guys here are the idiots who say "love and tolerance, love and tolerance" NEWS FLASH: Not everyone can be tolerated. and need to be taught a lesson in respect and personal opinion.

hell i don't tolerate those who say that phrase either. "Love and Tolerate" you're accepting a idea, good for you, just stop trying to force that crap down other people's throat by repeating it like a fucking parrot who doesn't know when to shut the fuck up.

Now if only there were more people like those in this thread who shared the same opinion of "love and tolerance" and the term brony maybe there wouldn't be so much stupid lately.

Ponies never once said 'love and tolerate'

The fact that it's become the mantra of the brony community is all sorts of perplexing :\

Friendship quite literally IS magic, in that it fuels the elements of harmony, and allows it to activate.

Beyond that, what is this at all :S
