I posted this not because I agree with it (I don't), but because one of my pet peeves is people who feel like they need to apologize for people that they do not represent. If you want to apologize for something that someone else did, it means you want to get someone's forgiveness while still being innocent, and frankly that's very selfish. Selling out a group of people who you don't even associate yourself with does not make you appear to be taking the high road, it just makes you look smug. |

Apologizing to a woman for being a man basically forfeits any respect they might have had for you, even if you legitimately disagree with how a lot of your peers behave. They may applaud you for putting a jerk in their place, but if you say "on behalf of that person, I apologize. Please forgive us," then you are basically sending the clear signal that you are a submissive pussy and that you want to win over the favor of women by denouncing your own sex. If you are not proud and assertive you will appear to be less than a man, and to women that makes you a tool. |
