Allow me to play devil's advocate here.
Derpy is a character in a fictional show. Just because people object to her depiction doesn't mean they're being hateful or intolerant. |

I was upset that some people were offended by Derpy, either by her name or by her portrayal.
I was upset that, for a time, it seemed Hasbro would react by changing or removing Derpy. However, I was deeply wounded that so many of my fellow Derpy fans rudely dismissed, insulted, or harassed the complainers, and so few fans spoke out against such behavior. "Love and tolerate" is an empty phrase if it's applied selectively. |

"Love and Tolerance" relies on the individual and can't ever truly apply to the collective, except if your definition of "collective" is that of a minimal group at best. It works for some, and not for others, and sadly it can't be completely observed/tracked at all times. |
