Cheerimac can't count as canon until is 100% confirmed, that "Relationship" could just be a joke they made to troll the CMC.

These two are as canon as any relationship will be in a show for little girls that revolves around friendship (with the exception of the married parents, etc).
And while Spike's is more one-sided, it's still clear that he and Rarity share more feelings for eachother than any other characters. And the wink doesn't mean anything. Sure, it could be a sign of them joking around to troll the CMC, but it can also be taken as them playfully flirting with eachother as well. These two ships are as canon as the show will ever make a pairing. |

If they're going to touch on romance they have to play off characters other than the mane 6. Remember there's a mandate that the episodes have to work in any order. That's why nopony seems to remember how many times the mane 6 have saved Equestria. It's also why Spike having a crush on Rarity can be canon, but Rarity's feelings toward Spike must remain ambiguous. A mane 6 romance just wouldn't fit the show's non-serial nature. |

Well, the status quo and modus operandi of the show is "no continuity whatsoever" so until that changes NOTHING is really canon, if you want to be super technical. At this rate Cheerilee and Big Mac could be on the cusp of a long and wonderful life together, or they might not even talk to each other ever again. Same with Spike and Rarity. So, quo-blocked, not because of their relationship but because that's how the show works. |

^ the series has some continuity at some points, the grand galloping galla was a proof of that (Ticket Master, Suited for Success, The Best Night ever). So in that case i dont doubt in some future there will be hints for those ships or details for example Rarity wearing the fire ruby again or Cheerimac seen on the background together |

Maybe the wink and baby talk was, but it can also be argued the wink was them flirtatiously sharing the joke, key word, flirting. It's intended to be humorous but it's also meant to be easy to understand for them, while maintaining friendship as its main aspect, but with a bit of romance on the side (because, deal with it, the girls watching the show are happy with the romance between these two, and don't give a fuck of whom got paired with whom). This is as canon as the show is going to make a romantic relationship. |

eh? I noticed that towards the beginning they really showed no signs of being more then friends. Actually, it seemed like they were feeling akward. Then the potion hits which I don't count since they were under a spell.
Then you see them jokingly act like they were under the love poison. Then wink as they CMC are screaming NO! I dunno, it just doesn't seem to scream couple to me. Till they show something a little more substantial shows up. Till then I'm gonna have to side with friends. It just seems like too much mindless and baseless speculation for my tastes. |

^No. Spike's always going to be a baby dragon in the series, just like the CMC will always be young fillies and just like we'll never watch the Mane 6 grow all through adulthood and middle age until they end up as elderly mares. The show doesn't have that kind of continuity to it (good thing).
Rarispike/Sparity will always be considered weird interspecies pedophilia from a canon perspective, so I can pretty much guarantee it will never happen in a serious context. Or any Mane 6 pairings I'm sure, for better or for worse. |

990973 and 990985 view the show from a writer's perspective and a rather technical way too. They do have a very good point. Both pairings are as canon as they'll get on a children's show that can't even give the slightest hint of kissing on screen. Their endings were both deliberately written in an open ended manner for writing convenience because Hasbro wants little to no continuity between S2 episodes. Both Spke/Rarity and Cheer/Mac are canon because they shared episodes together with implied romance between them. The stories are written for children. Children will not over analyze the scenes and simply take them at face value. If two characters share an episode together and romance is implied between them, end the episode on a happy note between the characters and the children will interpret those two characters are now happy together regardless of how open ended it appeared to be. |

I disagree. All that's canon is that they went on a picnic together. Them dating, them saying it just as a joke on the CMC, or them dating and then breaking up are all fanon possibilities. Unless we see them as a regular couple, it's impossible to take such an ambiguous ending as canon proof. It seemed like a "you decide" type of ending meant to leave all possibilities open. |

I dislike Cheerimac, but it's not technically canon beyond them having been put under a spell and not hating each other afterwards. Also, to my mind, the lesson to be learned in Hearts and Hooves Day would be lost if Cheerilee and Mac got together. |
