Who cares about ratings? |
| Thaluka #989766 5 months ago |
Gonna watch it anyway on Saturday NOW WHAT? |
| Fuzzy_Logic #989767 5 months ago |
Seeing a LOT of people commenting that the show will lose ratings from being watched early, as people won't be driven to watch saturday. That is absolutely incorrect. Also seeing a lot of people saying "Don't worry, I'll watch saturday, ratings are important". Also incorrect.
Neilsen ratings are determined from an extremely small pool of televisions that are actually equipped with a device to tell them who is watching what. They also sometimes use Tivo, but not always, and digital TV doesn't change anything- they still only get their data from selected households. If you're contributing to the ratings, you know it. It isn't some magic thing they figure out automatically via crazy unicorn magic space satellite. It's a little worrying how many people seem to think TVs work this way! :O |

ratings actually dictate whether a show is worth keeping on air or continuing. |

I know how it work....I'm on the rating board.
I watch the hub every Saturday! |
| Anonymous #989775 5 months ago |
NIELSEN DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY |
| Anonymous #989785 5 months ago |
I don't even have the Hub. The internet is the only way I can watch the show. All you guy's can just watch it again, or just have the tv on while you do something else. |
| Gomenasai #989833 5 months ago |
There are those telephonists who call randomly and ask what channels are being watched by how many people in their house. So I guess that's one way to get statistics on ratings but I always thought it's a wildly inaccurate method. |
| AcuteAngle #989834 5 months ago |
Strictly speaking, Fuzzy_Logic is correct. If you're not one of the households being surveyed by Neilsen for their ratings, watching the show on the Hub, while fun, won't impact its ratings any. Watching it on the Hub website might help a little, as I'm sure the Hub and Hasbro keep track of those views, and buying the episodes on iTunes definitely helps. (Of course, all this is for viewers in the USA; internationally, it's going to be harder to legitimately show your support for the show.) |

I'm not even American and I know this. |

Want to know how I Know you didn't read the source or the explanation in the comments or hell even the image? |
| Anonymous #989941 5 months ago |
It would be a lot more sensible to look and see how many views the shows get on Youtube. S2E17 has 311 views, 1055 likes, and 31 dislikes. Something's wrong here. |
| Thaluka #989962 5 months ago |
So when they say "170 million people watched the Superbowl" or whatever, how do they know that? Obviously all those people did not have Neilsen things on their TVs. Even stuff like NCIS will be listed as getting "23 million" for a certain night, is that just an extrapolated guess from the Neilsen pool and not actual data? |

The "magic" of Statistics Thaluka.
You take the percentage out of your sample size that did something and using the same percentage estimate it out of the population as a whole. |
| Anonymous #990122 5 months ago |
The best is, almost none of the people 'making a stand' by not watching the episode, will watch it legitimately on the hub |
| Anonymous #990206 5 months ago |
The fact is, you're showing MORE support for the show by buying it off of iTunes than you are watching it on Saturday, unless you have a nielsen box. Which you probably don't. But still, watch it on Saturday. |
| Takashi_0 #990441 5 months ago |
>Implying the majority of bronies won't watch it on Saturday.

^ I watch it on saturday (it's like Christmas morning I swear) but never on TV. I don't even know where to find the Hub or if we have it. Internet FTW. |
| Anonymous #990651 5 months ago |
^so you are taking a stand against people who paid to see the show, while you only pirate it? |
| Anonymous #990661 5 months ago |
Nice tags takashi, you retarded piece of shit, way to have no reading comprehension |

I actually am part of Arbitron's ratings, which is mostly concerned with radio listening, but also tracks television watching.
I don't have the Hub, though, so I watch it streamed (usually on HaxMega's channel). |
