Is Rainbow Dash, Prince? |

Like said with the other, it's quite touching in it's way. As said in other, not sure if it fits Dash too well, but it could fit her. |

@Glittonsxv
Don't forget futashy... what ever that is Still. I think Pinkie Pie would be more confused with her alleged split personalities |
| CronoM #982997 5 months ago |
^^ Agreed. Unlike a lot of ooc stories, considering her canon personality, just a few comments and realizations could set her over to this edge. She is way beyond a simple tomboy.
...Lets be honest. Rainbow Dash knows a lot more about being a guy then being a girl. |

@CronoM: I'd actually have to object on the whole "knows more about being a guy". Most of the gender norms or stereotypes are just things made up by society. We are raised to like certain things, or dislike some things. It's not always successful, but the majority falls for it. And seeing how equestria doesn't seem to have gender norms or any expectations of anypony to follow (except maybe biological ones), you can't really compare it to the human world.
Despite being okay with, and supporting trans people (and being a rather huge tomboy myself), I find the thought of having a male genital to be rather disgusting (or however to put it) and frankly rather unsettling. I might be on a way past midnight rambling here, but it feels a bit like the "not trans enough" thing or however to put it. In my current tired state, I'm thinking of the example where several stated that if a ex: MTF trans doesn't like: Dresses, make-up or etc, they are not trans enough, thus not really dedicated enough to actually want to be female. I know I am failing to bring forth my point properly, but really, gender is just a stamp by society they expect you to follow. To me, your gender is what you feel like you are. I've seen way to many that "doesn't see the problem" with trans people that are ex: a really girly (and possibly even gay) FTM, since "they already fit their role", and making a transition wouldn't serve any purpose. Feh, I am going to bed now, I hope I managed to at least say something of use. |

^ I think you did say something of use, and mostly agree with you. Gender norms are different and complex, even more in the air in pony society.
Rainbow Dash is, in the show, comfortable with her own body. I guess what I'm trying to say is that its more subtle and mental then a physical issue. Its about the roles of which Dash lives her life, which aren't necessarily ungirl-like by modern standards, they most certainly would blur the line between the mental state between male and female. A really good show to see the mental state between male and female blur subtlety is Ranma 1/2(ignoring the immediate physical change), who has a main character with Rainbow Dash's almost exact personality, except the situation is slightly different. For example, the term 'defending fluttershy's honor' is most certainly associated with testosterone. I hope I don't sound offensive with that, that's just what I believe. Like you said before, this is quite touching in a way. Especially since her backstory has a lot of blanks(parents and all), and that could be a factor as well. This could not happen just suddenly out of the blue, but it could fit her depending on the circumstance. |

Think she's bi, but maybe that's just me. |

@CronoM: Good to know I said stuff mostly of use heh. And yeah, I see your point of "testosterone", but tbh, just since she has more then normal (likely) doesn't have to make her want to be male. Heck, I know guys with the set up XXY and with lots of oestrogen that still very much consider themselves male, despite sometimes even lacking "generic male traits". Best example I'd have would be a male that is straight and hates sports, violence and porn. I am fully aware it could just a façade, but it seems awfully hard and straining to keep one like that up all the time.
Anyhow, as said: I could quite easily see Dash (or about any other character, heck, even the cloudsdale bullies or Fluttershy) be a transexual. I just don't see it as "the most logical choice" or anything certain. As said, personality generally doesn't have to mean anything. It can usually hint towards an archetype, but it's not certain, as said: there are straight tomboys. (And just to clear up the given examples: Bullies: Overcompensating to be "male" since they are either ashamed or scared to be found out. Fluttershy: unhappy with her body, but just keeps quiet and repress it as she always do.) |
