The earthies' strength as depicted in the Equestrian foundation play was that they grew food...which is something the other ponies can also do if they try as shown in a few episodes.
Earthies can't do anything other ponies can't do. This would be solved by giving each pony type unique character design and having earthies be bigger and stronger than the others, but that would mean they couldn't CTRL+C CTRL+V all the character designs and, more importantly, need more molds for making the toys. |

I'm sure Earth ponies grew food because they were the most physically capable, and not that growing food is their speciality.
Pegasi will be hindered with unnecessary muscle bulk, and Unicorns won't give a damn because they magic. |
