I don't get it.
With black humanized ponies I have to agree that there's no info on skin color available in the ponies, although I do preffer when it's closer to their coat colors (AJ is tan, RD and TS too, but these one are still lighter than their hairs (most of it, in Rd case)). But there is info on the ponies weight. Snips is slightly above his height's target weight. Mrs. Cake almost too. Mr. Cake on the other hand is slim. As is Fleur-de-Lis. Guards are buff. RD isn't buff either, as some people insist on when portraying her humanized form. She's an athletic tomboy, sure, but not buff. Most of it I'm okay with because she's just slightly buff, mostly athletic. But back to the point, Twilight never has been or will be this fat! Is this all just your [strike]messed up[/strike] fetish? I mean, really? Would you really be happy with a girl like that? Good for you, I guess, sorry for the rant, I'm just really grossed out by that. Not that I'm against fat girls. There's a girl at college who's really fat, maybe about half that Twi's size, but who's also very beautiful. But I still wouldn't date her. I honestly wouldn't be able to handle the teasing. I'm sorry for that. Again, I'm sorry it just, grosses the fuck out of me. |

I, Anon367, didn't went apeshit, IMHO. I just said why I think this is weird, not because it is fat, but because it goes against established character canon. The same way I said, if you really read my post, that I don't like buff Rainbow Dash or black characters with light coat colors (while I'm okay with tanned AJ). Then I made a small remark on why I don't share this fetish of some people, and then proceed to apologize to whoever have this fetish that feels offended. As someone who actually does share the artist's fetish (though not normally to this extent), I will say I agree with the anon who said this grated on his headcanon too much. In my mind the only one of the mane six even remotely overweight is Pinkie, and she'd probably be just on the bubble between "curvy" and "a bit chubby," as despite her poor diet she is incredibly active.
The art itself is actually pretty good as far as such things go. Real sense of presence and weight, realistic placement of rolls, etc. I just don't see this as twilight sparkle at all. In summary "Done very well, but probably shouldn't have been done period." |
