@DeeperMadness: The book is short but incredible. For someone who was born in Russia Nabokov had an unbelievable talent for writing in English. Even without the risqué subject matter Lolita would be memorable for the prose alone. |

Basically Lolita is about a pedophile named Humbert Humbert who is trying to get into the pants of his new stepdaughter Lolita who is only 12 years old. It's where the term "lolicon" comes from (short for "Lolita Complex"). You were probably thinking of Gothic Lolita fashion which basically is a type of fashion where girls dress up in frilly dresses that are better suited for preteen girls from the Victorian age. |
