What nobody realizes is that the other guy looked a whole lot worse when Fluttershy was done with him. She just gave in to the pain when the adrenaline wore off, and needed Dash's help.

Fluttershy seems to me like the kind of pony that could easily hold her own in a fight if cornered, but she'd be so deeply disturbed by what she'd done that she would proceed to apologize endlessly to the guy on the ground whether he's conscious or not. In the end, she'd still be worse off than the other guy, if only emotionally.
That, or she repeatedly got the tar beat out of her in flight school for having dumpy, underdeveloped wings, hence why she's afraid of her own shadow. |

I bet Rainbow Dash is really bad at patching people up with first aid but Fluttershy is just so overcome with how she's willing to help her, and that's she's being so nice about it she can only stutter a few squeaks while otherwise saying "Y-you're doing f-fine. Thanks... now could you apply the antiseptic this time?" |

I imagine Fluttershy taught Rainbow Dash quite a bit of first aid. As an athlete, Dash probably knows more than nothing, at the very least. |

Dash's motivations aren't to get Fluttershy near danger, as shown in Dragonshy.
Dash's core motivations are to protect her friends and their honor. Dash has a hairtrigger tolerance for anything that threatens her friends. She's come just a few seconds away from 'beat it to death' becoming the solution ever since the second episode. |
