It reminds me more of 17th century European and Indian pieces. Japanese aesthetics at the time didn't go in for perspective, depth of background or incredible detail. That said, once trading routes opened up, they all copied each other's styles, so I can definitely see where you're coming from. Mind you, the sketchy nature of the tree reminds me of the accompanying engravings you used to get in children's books. There's a fair amount going on here. |
