A painting/picture thing I did of Luna. Yeah, I painted over her face at the end of "Friendship is Magic, Part 2" and it's a bad habit I need to get out of... and yet, that face was perfect for this picture.
Loneliness is a trait that permeates Luna's character, and I wanted to make a lonely-feeling picture. I imagine Luna felt very lonely, even as the Elements of Harmony celebrated their victory over Nightmare Moon in Ponyville. The terror of the creature Luna became had very real impact, even to the point of the ponies forming the holiday of "Nightmare Night". In the end, Luna's attempt at making her subjects acknowledge her night, even to the point of threatening an everlasting one, only pushed them further away. And maybe, in this picture, she's realizing that. She's even more alone than before. There aren't even any stars because While making this, I had a specific musical piece in mind to fuel the melancholy, from an artist I recently found and whose music I absolutely adore. View it as advertisement if you wish, but I tried to capture the mood of the song and I want to know how well I did in doing so. Vadim Kiselev - Alone in the Dark |
