Actually, studies hav shown that couples share a lot of similar traits, very few traits are usually different. "Opposites attract" is complete bullshit that love stories would hav u believe. |

There's plenty of relationships that get along just fine under either of the descriptions of "opposites attract" and "bonding similarities", the healthiest relationships being able to have some of both of those descriptions. Besides, you can't calculate love. It don't work. Just go with what looks okay, what works out for both individuals, what makes them the happiest. |

@CogWeaver You can, however, estimate the probability of love. Statistics isn't pretty, but you can't ignore the numbers either. Fluttershy's most likely partners would be Big Mac or Rainbow Dash, and Big Mac's would be Fluttershy. Other relationships are entirely possible, it's just they hav little to no basis.
I was raging at B2C for not bothering to chekk the research I mentioned (honestly, when I went to make sure I was recalling it correctly, I found three great studies at the top of the google results), then continuing with his own uninformed opinion about it. |

Anyway just because a pairing is statistically unlikely doesn't mean it shouldn't be done. There's always that chance however small, and a good enough writer can make nearly anything believable. Plus all three of those articles only say that people are more likely to seek out others similar to them, the third even suggests that relationships between different people can be closer when they do happen. |
