askaregularpony: Whirly Willow is special to me. She takes my crazy ramblings (and most of my disposable income) and manages to turn them into exactly what I wanted to wear. She’s cool and enjoys her job and, well, is just plain rad. Even if she doesn’t know she’s the closest thing I have to a friend in Canterlot. Life in the city would probably be horrible without her. Thanks for being you. Umm, this probably isn’t what you meant when you asked your question but it’s from the heart.
(Well this took me an epic amount of time to draw, partly as I was learning Sai as I went and partly because it actually means quite a lot to me. Without Whirly existing I never would have started up this Ask A. In 2011 I was getting bogged down in the mindless ‘hate every OC’ mentality that was being thrown around on Ponibooru until I saw an unambitious, neat and unassuming OC. While it’s probably impossible to remove yourself from ego completely, it was a breath of fresh air in a community that sometimes takes itself a little more seriously than it should. So I made this; as much for me as for Whirly. It’s probably the best thing I’ve ever drawn in my life, so I’m glad that it turned out this well (at least I hope it did argh blah artist angst. -CS) Oh!
