Princess Luna and the Moon Arcana

Huzzah for easy, obvious match-ups. As it just so happens though, Princess Luna does share some traits with the characters of the Moon Arcana. This Arcana represents “creativity, inspiration, dreams, madness, illusions, fear, fantasy, the subconscious and trickery.”

Nozomi, the self-proclaimed “Gourmet King” had a refined taste for the culinary world, but while his knowledge of food in this world was solid, his thoughts on the afterlife were not. Not to say anyone is right or wrong about life after death, but trying to charge a fee into his cult on their voyage to “Paradise” came off as rather arrogant. Nozomi also struggled with the image of his deceased brother, always comparing himself in a lower light.

Shinjiro carried the guilt from a rather grim past that he knew he could never undo. Once a Persona user alongside Akihiko and Mitsuru, he turned away from his power due to an incident on one fateful night. Shinjiro became more and more distant from his once best friend Akihiko, almost like a self punishment, but Akihiko still tries to encourage him to let go over what happened when the three of them were still new to their powers. Coincidentally, Shinjiro is similar to Nozomi in his talent for food, only he prefers to make it.

Ai Ebihara, the rather snobby classmate and sports manager, struggled in getting along with others and seemed to represent the typically spoiled teenage girl. As it turns out though, she used to be taunted over her weight by the more popular girls. In her radical transformation from “Piggihara” to her slim figure now, she doesn’t realize how she has essentially become the same as the girls who picked on her before.

Princess Luna has had her share of social awkwardness, but being exiled from others for 1000 years will do that. Fueled by anger towards her sister, the debut episode of the series showed her return as the malevolent Nightmare Moon, determined to make the night never end. The Mane Six embarked to locate the Elements of Harmony and stop her scheme, but Nightmare Moon was prepared with illusions and traps to throw them off. After her fall to the Elements, her true form as Princess Luna returned. Lamenting over her actions, Luna seemed to disappear until the holiday of Nightmare Night. Her reintegration into society didn’t mull over so well with the citizens of Ponyville, but Twilight and her friends helped her adjust to the world after 1000 years of changes. I would definitely see Princess Luna as a night time social link in “Ponysona.”

In regards to the gap between Moon and Sun I mentioned back on Big Mac, I probably should have referred to the time in between Sun and Judgement. Lots of stuff happening on my end has kept me occupied.
