Let Derpy stay! Don't get rid of her, please! She's everyone's favorite! Don't let those bullies push you around! She is not an insult to people who are "slow" or "mentally handicapped". She is just clumsy and I for one like her voice and don't think it's "ableist". no one's asking her to leave. We just don't care for the name, that's all. What was wrong with Ditzy Doo? I feel like the fan portrayal of her is all right (well, sometimes at least) but fandom shouldn't dictate canon. It's not just one instance either --this show has had so many eyeroll-worthy moments (Zecora, Over a Barrel, etc.)

Considering ditzy is by definition both insulting and sexist while "derp" was made up by the guys who made south park as a word with no solid definition, I don't see how the name argument has stood up for so long. |

@mooch1 People have a right to be offended, but not all offence is equal. When someone acts on their sense of offence and tries to force their views on a majority that either disagrees or doesn't care, they in essence become the very oppressors they think they're fighting against, only worse, since the offended wish to take away everyone else's rights and happiness.
And what the fuck does "ableist" even mean? It sounds like some nonsense buzzword. In other words, go jump off a bridge, you PC twat. |
