Cog, I hang out in the Philosophy and Religion forums on DA(Typical DA shit+ Religion debates), our arguments here are nothing compared to that madness. Our main problem is we take ourselves way to seriously. Every single hater is our archenemy, every single misstep is the end of the world, every porn pic or clop fic will get Hasbro to hate us, etc. Its this "chicken Little" attitude that hurts us.

@Zincy Well now maybe you see the reasoning behind why I did that "Drama Compilation" post earlier. We do take ourselves too seriously! We need to lighten up! There were two outcomes of that post: 1) People get offended and argue and bicker, and I get seen as a massive troll and get hated (though this was a much lower chance of happening than option 2) 2) No gives a crap, they "derail" the thread with gifs (which I'm loving, btw. SO MANY NEW GIFS!), they prove themselves to be able to shrug their shoulders and move on in the face of controversy, and they help prove a relatively simple theory I've had for a while: If you give someone every reason to be mad, troll, or any other 'negative' action, and then straight up tell them to be mad or to troll or whatever, they won't do it! But so yeah, I have hope for this community. But if the drama continues and/or gets worse, I don't think I'll stick around except just to just watch ponies.

Its the problem with youth Cog, kids always try to prove themselves and take everything as a threat. As we grow, things will get better or we will simply fall into obscurity. We are pretty resilient, we will endure. Once some of our members start figuring out we aren't the bloody internet messiahs here to bring "love and tolerance" by sheer force of arms. We are a fandom, and thats the end of it.

@956 As the anon who started the derail, I can tell you that it's a good means of dealing with awkward content like what you posted. By derailing the thread with happy/funny animations, you cover all areas. If it's a troll, you're not getting mad. You're failing them off the bat. If it's not, you're preventing a shitstorm. You mentioned "telling them to be mad or troll", what we need is a system that works without telling. If you find something offensive, or blatantly wrong, consider a gif dump to prevent the shitstorms. Nobody complains, because they get nice pictures, and any trolls fail in an instant. It's a cure-all akin to Love and Tolerance in the early days.
