Of course the show hasn't made me better. I was already as awesome as possible beforehand.

People have used other forms of media to better themselves? Would that make it just as stupid?

Ponies are part of the reason I didn't kill myself a couple of months ago.

It is terribly foolish to be swayed by the mass media...

Well, it could help them become a better person, I believe you only feel that way because it was never VERY significant.

For example, I used to be scared of the dark, I always was. BUT when I learned of Pinkie Pie's song about fears, I started singing it while plunging into darkness; I found myself at peace in the dark while singing that.

What Glitton and BattleGT said.

Fiction can and does influence people. Furthermore, it's childish to assume everyone will or should react to a thing the same way you do.

Well, this show helped my sister and I stay close. I currently live on the other side of the planet from her, so it's hard to find much to discuss often, but with ponies, we chat every 2 weeks about funny clips and whatnot.

Also, the MLP characters are probably the first female characters in ANY medium that I felt that I could relate to.

This show inspired me to take anger management therapy. You can't assume it didn't help people become better just because it didn't do the same for you.

This show AND the fandom helped break through the jaded shell I had put around myself, and got me to relax and not be so bitter about life. Thanks, y'all!

I wouldn't say this show changed my life dramatically, but the fandom certainly is pretty fun, and I have become a tad more polite.

Why Pinkie's sister though?

Just as with Anon761, I have a much improved mood these days. I used to be much more paranoid, uptight and angry due to my time in the service. Ponies have helped me overcome that with no external counseling or help.

oh look a sourpuss, this isn't 4chan, you should try to stay more positive, and anything can change a person as long as he/she felt connected to it and the central message behind MLP:FiM is friendship, love, and positivity.

Who cares, TC? If it helps people and they like it that way, it is. fine. I used to be suicidal, but a few games and anime (Aria) lifted my spirits up. Stop griping over other peoples' experiences.
