I was disappointed to find out that Twilight wasn't considered Rainbow's pet. |

why do I feel that there is a double meaning to this? |

I'm still wondering if Spike is considered a main character or a side character since he's in so many episodes... |

^I'd say main.
Mostly because I'm predicting he's going to have one of those "Deus Ex Machina/'Outcast' Saves the Day" type of roles. I'm sure there's a more official name for that sort of thing on Tropes, buuuut I'm not delving into the Everfree Forest of a website. |

^ I agree, I think that Spike is the ideal character to use in an episode to deliver the "Never neglect your friends" message. |

I sort of considered Spike a "pet" in that he was a companion and supporting character strongly associated to one of the Mane Six. But you know they could never get away with calling him a pet in the show.
Then again, Spike plays way more of a role in the show than any of the actual pets do, so yeah. |

Screw you OP, Spike is a person just as much as the others. |

I consider Spike a pet to Twilight, but she thinks of him as family too. |
