@ 958764: because people were hoping it would stay canon, just as the other half are hoping that "Ditzy" would become canon.
Of course it has never actually been proved that the two were the same characters in the first place. People put 2 + 2 together and assumed from one meaning to another. They took a name meaning "stupid" or "not intelligent" and applied it to a popular background pony with a made-up name with no previous connotations that children would get, and refused to let anything sway their decisions, even claiming the other was a hideous insult. Thankfully, those people are the extreme extremists in the argument. Most seem to tolerate it. Mostly. |
