This smells like SCAM.
If your friend (aka yourself) needs the money so badly, then he should get a JOB instead of wasting his time with piddly sketchs that only earn him $1 each. Simple maths say that even working for the minimal wage, a single day of paid work should make him earn 10X what this pitful scam is trying to pilfer from gullible kids. |

I wish I could sell my art for $1 dollar per sketch. Best's I could do was 0,6 euros per sketch and I'm now unemployed, cold and hungry.

That sounds like a very selfish and shallow reason if you ask me. Also, the girl's claims of poverty and a year-long unemployement seem too contrived IMO. She can afford the luxuries of a blog, a car and a steady internet connection despite her proclaimed poverty? Why not cancel her internet services for a couple of months and use that money instead? I thought this sketch commision business was for a genuine reason (such as a familiar emergency) but instead it's because a chick can spend a good time with her cyberboyfriend? I facepalmed so hard that now I don't know math. |

Stupid is sitting on your ass drawing stuff for $1 a piece and making $8 a day as much, when you could get a job and earn several times that money on a sigle day.
Stupid is spending all of your time online and then complaining about not being able to get a job. Stupid is trying to make some "easy" money without having to leave your room out of pure lazyness, at the cost of a lot of extra work, unsecurity and chaining yourself to your tablet, all for a mere pittance. Stupid is claiming to have "economic problems" and then revealing that you only want others to pay for your date and spending money. I have no problems with helping a person in *true* need, but this entire "problem" thing is just stupid from beginning to end. If this is her definition of "problems" then I don't want to imagine what will happen when this chick stops living off her parents and have to face the responsability of supporting herself. You guys will understand why this is so silly once you start living and supporting all on your own. |

Guys, clorin-spats never said she was in "great need" of money. She only advertised these sketches on her tumblr and her deviantart, and she explained how she was going to use the money in her original post.
I was the one who thought to bring this to ponibooru, because I knew that some people would take interest. Perhaps I was wrong to claim that she has "financial difficulties" in the original post. That's my fault, not hers. Sorry! |

Hello, I'm Clorin-Spats.
I know how this is being interpreted and I feel a little like I need to defend myself. Yes, I am running a $1 sketch sale. Yes, I am not financially hard off as I am 18 and living with my parents and fresh out of high school. Yes, I do not have a job, and I am sure that many people know how difficult it is to find a job with nearly no experience in a college town. I never claimed to be in financial straits and I explained fully what I would be putting the money towards. I never demanded that people pay me any more than one dollar for literally anything they wanted. This work is by no means easy, but it's doing what I love and attempting to earn money so that I don't have to financially lean on either my boyfriend to pay for the entire week in addition to the $1500 tickets to see me, or my parents who are doing me the kindness of paying for my community college and housing me. I am not trying to elevate my problem over others, and if someone with a more serious need is around, I'd much rather other people put their money towards them instead of me. The reason I am asking for people to commission me is given up front with little embellishment: "I am going to meet my boyfriend in a little over a month for the first time. He is coming from BC, Canada, all the way to Virginia, and spending a week here. Unfortunately for us, my year-long job hunt has so far been fruitless, and I can’t afford to drive any further than the Target across the street. I know it’s asking a lot for people to give a dollar so that I can show my boyfriend a good time for the week he is here, but I’m willing to work for every dollar I can manage to scrounge. I want to be able to have him meet my friends, my families, and see wonderful things in Virginia, but I won’t be able to do that if I can’t pump a tank of gas." I do not mind if you think I am stupid, shallow, lazy, or selfish, and that is your opinion. As far as I am concerned, no one needs to buy any art if they don't want it. I draw for ten hours a day because I am grateful that people took the time to commission me, to look at my art and think it is good enough to pay money for, and I want to deliver a piece that a person will think is worth the dollar they spent. I am by no means the best, but I want to work hard to earn money and if this is the only way I could do it, than so be it. |
