I am now rather less likely to trust in MadMax's recommendations.

Because, you know, I always went directly to her for entertainment recommendations.

Maybe I'm just being obtuse, but isn't this implying that Twilight would think it was a great book, not necessarily that the author would think such?

Just because I know this fandom I predict we are only hours before this thing devolves into a love and tolerance outbreak and the vocal minority starts accusing opposition as "intolerant" and "blindly hateful" towards a "decent piece of literature" and claiming that "it's only a matter of taste" and "you are watching a girls' toon, you are all closeted twilight fans".

I wonder how many of you actually read Twilight, though. Some significant effort was put into making the characters... attractive.

I read Twilight; piece of shit.
I bet she's just using the cover to answer the question, but the actual content is about astrophysics.

Or maybe MadMax just actually likes Twilight? So the fuck what? Yes, the books/films are shit, but then again we all have something that we like that's utter crap in the "popular" opinion.

Except, of course, the first person who responds to this "NOTHING I LIKE IS SHIT". Seriously, that dude's taste in everything is impeccable.

There are things that are objectively shit. Let's not reduce the fanbase to bad quality apologetics in the shake of uncritical love and tolerance.

I myself didn't like the books but at the same time, who am I to hate other peoples taste. I watch a cartoon for little girls and love every minute of it and I don't get a shitstorm reaction when I admit that.

005: Twilight is what the terms "tasteless" or "In poor taste" are intended for. The face that so many readers have embraced the relationship dynamics presented as ideal in the Twilight series goes to show that we have some severe emotional issues around relationships as a species. Reading it is the literary equivalent of eating Fast-Food. I still want to see Twilight Sparkle's real response to the Twilight series though:

"Spike, burn this for me please."
"You want me to burn a book for you Twilight? That doesn't seem like you at all, are you sure?"
"Yes Spike, this is not a book, it's an abomination in the form of a book, an insult to literature and harmony itself. Burn it."

You know... resorting to "stop being judgemental since you watch a cartoon for little girls" in order to reduce the importance of quality vs personal taste is resorting to a false analogy.

Comparing MLP: FiM to Twilight is like compairing Bram Stoker's Dracula to MLP gen 3.5 though I must admit that in the second case comparisson is easier since both works intend to scare the audience/reader.

I watched the movies. My only problem was VAMPIRES DON'T SPARKLE.

Technically, I own a copy of one of the books. It's sitting behind my bed, having never been opened because its intended recipient already had it and I didn't know.
