^That's probably why I don't find Ice Pack being an OC who sleeps with the mane cast jarring, like I do with anyone else - it's for the sake of the characters, not the indulgence of the artist/OC/self-insert. @867 Okay. Applejack, Dash, Rarity and Pinkie Pie have obvious sources of income. Fluttershy is most likely the equivalent of a park ranger on the Ponyville budget, seeing as how all the animals in town need so much intelligent intervention.
I've always hazarded the guess that Ponyville is willing to pay Twilight a small amount to be a part-time librarian. Small towns don't necessarily have the money to hire extra personnel, and the library didn't seem to have a librarian previously, so it might have been a volunteer operation or staffed a few weekend hours a week by the Mayor and/or her staff. Between that and any scholarship she's getting, Twi is probably reasonably well provided for. Her parents don't strike me as rich. Sure, they live in Canterlot, so they're probably better off than your average Ponyville pony, but Twilight's manners would probably be noticeably different if she was in any way upper crust. Getting the position as the Princess' favored student might have been a valuable tuition break for her. |
