Be honest. Don't go into it with a "you against the world" mentality though, if you can help it. That mentality may leave you alienated. But if you're logical and polite about it, then some people should understand. Those who choose not to understand are probably people with whom you would not want to associate, but they may come to understand you in the future. And mostly, keep your hopes up. |

Most of what other people say would be good advice.
However, if you have no choice but to associate yourself with intolerant people, give them a reason to avoid you. All humans have SOME extent of moral value, and if pushed hard enough, will not bother you any longer. Be kind to those around you and follow the elements of harmony. However, if one intrudes to far, strike them(Hopefully not literally) with righteous anger. |

I had a situation that may be defined awkward, in fact, for the same topic. A bothersome person one day decided to confront me and ask me loads of "Ponies or _____?" questions; the blank was filled with life-related things such as money, friends, family, home, possessions, other nouns.... I am the same Anon as 947466, so at one point that bigot pushed to far, so I lashed out on him. He hasn't been confronting me about ponies so far... but he is still bothersome. |

Stiff upper lip. Truth is, it's a good show with a good story, with characters that hit a wider demographic than intended. Just remember the context of their argument to see how invalid it is.
American football fans base their lives around a game they will never play again, and haven't played since they were in High School, and would willingly pay (sometimes obscene amounts of) money to see a bunch of sweaty men tackle one another. Celebu-tard Stalkers are no better. Going insane over award shows, paparazzi photos, and twenty minute weddings is no different than checking a forum post. Just remember it, but don't point out that their idea of what's interesting is just as, if not more, absurd than yours. Tolerate like troll bait. |
