Headcanon: She has a terrible foreign accent that she's ashamed off, so she keeps trying to put on more "equestrian" accents to see which voice suits her. She hasn't come up with a decent voice yet. |

Honestly, she isn't that individual. I mean, she's never done much in the show to gain fame by herself. The reason she became popular was because of her being with Lyra, who has that creepy smile and the sitting thing that made her the crazy human pony.
But yeah, now that she's a popular character, I agree that a solo project would be cute. :) |

She works as a confectioner, does amateur voice-acting as a hobby, has a generally grumpy disposition, and is the roommate/romantic interest of Lyra.
That's about all I've got for Bon-Bon. Lyra's human obsession lends itself to so much lampshade-hanging on Equestrian culture that it's a hard act to follow. |

Quite a few posts ago I came up wih the following, which seems to work out for me.
BonBon is a confectioner of some skill who was born and raised in Manehatten, judging by her accent. Given the sheer number of skilled chocolatiers and sweet makers already thriving in that city, she decided some years ago to try and set up shop in Ponyville, where she felt she might be able to carve out a niche for herself. Being a mare from the big city who has doubtlessly had to work very hard to establish herself and her business in a new town, BonBon is a pragmatic and no-nonsense pony who reacts negatively to public disturbances and being hassled. After falling in love with Lyra some of her rougher edges have been smoothed out, although she does chaff at some of the unicorn's more bizarre eccentricities. |

Hinestly Lyra is not any better off. She's obsessed with humans, occassionally plays the lyre and...That's it. In their straight man/comic foil duo, Bon-Bon is usually the one who gets to do all the mature stuff, chores, hobbies and so on. Lyra is pretty much just there to stumble in and squee over something human related again. But there's so much you can make Bon-Bon do, while poor Lyra remains a single joke act. I see (fanon) Bon-Bon a somewhat similar character to Carrot Top, a pony with a relatively normal, simple and hard-working life. But even between these two ponies, the difference is very noticable. Carrot Top seems like an outdoor kind of person, more youthful and even naive, while Bon-Bon gives off the air of a responsible woman with a sense for socializing who is good at managing her life, but suffers from being somewhat plain looking. Now I have acquired all that impression from fanworks, but it definitely doesn't seem like she doesn't get any love. xD |
