They're cartoon characters. Imprinting racial viewpoints on them says more about your own thoughts than about them. Personally, I can see any of them as any racial background as humans.

I'm usually okay with making the characters have ethnicity from an art standpoint. My bone to pick is that artists disregard the characters established parents. Like, Asian Rarity? Yeah, try drawing her parents as Asians then get back to me.
Same with Twilight. Her mother maybe could be humanized to be Indian or eastern, but her father? with that hair? not so much. And next time you make Pinkie anything other Caucasian, just remember. 99.9% of Amish people are white. And no, I'm not mad. |

Nightweaver, any of the mane cast could be portrayed as black in fanart depicting them as human. The fact that Twilight is singled out for it is silly. Jerks commenting on black Twilight pics with "lol she can't be black because of *insert racist reason*" is pretty bad and I can understand the urge to fight against it, but "Chocolate Twilight" isn't canon. It's just one valid interpretation of a character out of many.
Anyways, I dig this picture. Pajama Twilight might be as good as Sweatervest Twilight. |
