Never had the chance to watch too much Asterix and Obelix. So... Obelix was fat all along because he drank something he shouldn't have?

Not really. He fell into the cauldron as a kid and is therefor strong without. That's why he isn't allowed to drink any, too.
And he's just pudgy like that xD

asterix and his friends were the only galls the romans couldnt conquer, cuz they had a potion that made them impossibly strong. obelix fell into a cauldron full of potion when he was young so the effects on him are permanent, so they dont give him any potion, even though he still wants to try it (he eats a lot)

Asterix was my favorite comic series as a kid, though I don't think many other Americans read it.

Eh, it's a lot like the Tin Tin comics. More popular overseas than in the 'States. I guess you gotta have traveled to a lot of places in order to know the true joy of those stories

I'm pretty lucky... I live in the US, but my local library has a big foreign comics section with Asterix and Tintin comics, which I fell in love with as a kid.

Some recent movies were made. The Clovis Cornillac ones were a tad silly, though.

Anon 945971 and ToySoldierScratch, The Twelve Tasks just sucks, watch Mission Cleopatre from Alain Chabbat (best french movie ever)
Very good crossover by the way

My mom speaks French and lived in France for a bit, she brought back a bunch of Asterix and Obelix comics (I think all that had been printed at the time, this was a while ago) and basically read them to me when I was a kid. I had no idea what the pictures said, but my mom read them in English, so it was okay.

We don't have Asterix comics in Russia, but I liked cartoons when I was in school. Caesar was pure win, by the way
