If Eco add's a Hide comments button or an option to hide all comments under preferences. But I don't think anyone is suggesting getting rid of comments completely |

Eco always says that there is no problem on posting gifs or doing threads of them (without going overboard). Now, if someone doesn't want to see an image, there are many options like plugins and such.
Now for the people who want to hide the comments and all...just don't look at the comments. It's not that hard, is it? |

The problem is when they post porn.
Perhaps comments should be hidden when like 10 people report it or so. I don't find a thumbs up/down system very good though. Perhaps a hidden one, where it has an effect, but does not tell people how many thumbs the comment has. I say, lets keep it how it is, unless there are a lot of people complaining. |

Some comments are in violation of the rules. For example, explicit images posted on safe images breaks our tag policy. Or people posting illegal material in comments breaks our "no illegal material" policy.
Such comments will probably be cleaned up! Otherwise, I try not to delete comments. I just ask that people be considerate, and remember that most other users of this site are human beings. As for gifs breaking the page, well, I'm aware of it as an issue. Writing a proper solution (paginated comments and max-images-per-comment, probably) will require some time, which I don't have right now and probably won't for several months yet. |
