New head-canon: Rainbow Dash is openly anti-objectivist.
She is, therefore, best pony.

I like Ayn Rand, but I totally shouldn't.
I can't help it, though. Bitch's SO quotable!

30 bits says the creator did read this book, because I have and the reaction seems spot-on.

Seriously, it had its moments, but in the last few chapters all the characters who don't agree with Rand are downgraded into total flanderized idiots (moreso than they already were) and then there was Galt's speech, which lasted so long that I think Rand forgot she was supposed to be writing a novel and not an essay.

Not only the book promotes one of the most vile ideologies of the 20th century but it also has no redeeming literary qualities. Anyone that says otherwise is a randroid cultist.

^ And the best part?

It's the bible of those now controlling the United States. It provides them the excuses they need to rationalize their acitons.

Last I checked 909 The Democrats were in the Whitehouse and we all know that democrats are anything but objectivists.

And I have read the book, it's not pulitzer quality but it's definitely not complete shit either. The ones who often hate it are liberals, the ones who love it without question are libertarians, everyone else who's read thinks it's mediocre but not completely terrible.

@majob

Except for Galt's speech, hell it's a great read when you skip over the obvious philosophic rant padding, and a bit shorter as well.

You could boil the whole thing down to: Marx got it backwards, it's "To each according to their abilities, and from each according to their needs."
Because the more abilities you gain, the more money you'll earn / The more stuff you need, the more you'll work to gain more abilities to make more money to pay for it.
...And YOU decide what your needs and abilities are.

And Anon 943909 is living on another planet.

I hated Ayn Rand BEFORE playing Bioshock

...and Left 4 Dead...
