@mylittlellama
I wish I could read the descriptions for these on the source site, but alas, they're in Russian. |
| Anonymous #940374 5 months ago |
@TobiasKazama
Obviously, he's setting up a pet bed on the floor for himself, so the pony can enjoy the entire king-sized bed. It's the only explanation for not bringing her to bed and snuggling with her. |
| TobiasKazama #940417 5 months ago |
@940374
You must be right. It's the only explanation that makes any sense. |
| Stank #940536 5 months ago |
So... does anyone want to discuss the morality of having sentient, self-aware beings as pets? |
| Anonymous #940556 5 months ago |
@940374
No. It IS his bed. In Russia sleeping on the floor is very polular, because you never fall down. Even after two or three bottles of vodka. |
| Anonymous #940576 5 months ago |
Stank: Eh, I'm cool with it. Some might call it a form of slavery, I call it a form of AWESOME. Just because you completely control them doesn't mean you can't be friends. |
| JP #940578 5 months ago |
Aaaawww, more little Gammadelta. |
| TobiasKazama #940645 5 months ago |
Stank, would you object to being Fluttershys pet? |
| Stampede #940726 5 months ago |
@940645
I know I wouldn't. |
| Anonymous #941200 5 months ago |
I do, Stank. These pics are cute, but they also make my blood boil. You dont keep a self-aware being as a pet. If you try you should be gutted like a fish. |
| Anonymous #941548 5 months ago |
I'd keep one. But only if it was willing.
It's almost like an extra housewife! Besides a sentient pony would have very little chance of surviving in a human world and would most likely end up in a circus or a laboratory at best and a butcher shop at worst. |
| Anonymous #941569 5 months ago |
You still dont keep them as a pet. Roommate yes. Pet no. |
| Anonymous #941708 5 months ago |
A roommate who won't pay taxes cannot use cutlery never pay his share of rent and shed fur all over the place.
On the upside it would probably clean after itself and use the toilet. So it's sentient pony would be hardly a roommate and closer to a well trained pet that talks with more sophisticated demands when it comes to food cince i don't think grass will cut if in a longer run. |
| B2C #941729 5 months ago |
It's not about economics, it's about self-determination. When a pet runs away, you force it to come home. When a person runs away, you find them and see if they're ok. |
| Anonymous #941830 5 months ago |
Wrong 708. Just because they can't pay rent doesn't give you the right to make them your slave. But the fact you're calling the pony an "It" makes it pretty obvious this conversation is a waste of time. I guess if "It" isn't just like you then "It" is just a toy for you to play with. Way to prove we humans don't deserve the company of ponies, and never will. |
| Anonymous #941915 5 months ago |
Bro's, its a pony, it can be a pet. people own horses and ponys in real life, ride em, and use them to carry things. just because the pony can talk, does'nt make it any less of a pet. |
| Anonymous #942004 5 months ago |
@830
It is a asexual form since the pony can be male or female therefore it's an IT till we know its gender. It also often aplies to human kids. |
| Rainbow #942205 5 months ago |
Actually this a girl. |
| Anonymous #942364 5 months ago |
Real life ponies aren't self-aware, 915. If you really can't see the difference between them and MLP ponies then there's something seriously wrong with you. Or you're just a typical human. Which amounts to the same thing.
I seriously doubt that was how 708 was using it, 004. 708's post makes it very clear that the only thing he/she considers to be worthy of being considered sentient are humans. All other life is considered little more then playthings for his/her enjoyment. Things to cast aside whenever the mood strikes. It is a very disgusting and very human way to view the world. And is a view all too common in the MLP fandom. So you see, calling 708 out on his/her use of the term "It" was right on the money. But it's not that big of a problem. It just serves to further strengthen my disgust and hatred of humanity in general and certain types of people in particular. |

@Stank I would have them as a companion, not a pet. |
| Anonymous #943480 5 months ago |
I hope you mean that. The words aren't interchangeable, you know. |
| Stampede #945314 5 months ago |
I think people are ignoring that there are relationships in the real world that resemble master/pet relationships, entered into consensually by both parties. I'm not saying that's what this is, just that there is precedent for two sentients living together in such a relationship. |
| Anonymous #945339 5 months ago |
^I used to have this kind of relationship with a black girlfriend of mine. It was really awkward , especially when she wanted me to whip her. |
| aceofscarabs #945455 5 months ago |
Well, if I had to take care of a stranded Pony who got stuck on our world, I wouldn't demand rent from her. |
| Anonymous #947939 5 months ago |
Except we're talking about human and non-human relationships, not human to human, Stampede. Even in a master/pet relationship between two humans both partys acknowledge the fact that they are both thinking beings, even if the power balance is completely onesided. With ponies the problem here is that although people are aware the ponies are sentient, they insist on treating them like common animals or at best a plaything. Most sickening of all is that these people don't seem to be aware of the problem with this, or more likely just don't care. |
| Stampede #948301 5 months ago |
@947939
I agree that is a problem, and it is a problem that arises in among humans as well. I don't see that extreme in this image series though. I see it as, at worst, a light master/slave relationship. The unnamed human in this series obviously cares about and respects Gamma Delta. He does what he can to reassure her and make her comfortable. Any implication of sexuality or dominance is, frankly, from the observer. I'm not ignoring that the problems you bring up exist, but I just don't see them here. |
| Anonymous #951523 5 months ago |
My problem isn't just with these pics but with the human mindset in general and peoples inability to see the problems that arise from it. Even if the man loves the pony and treats her well he still sees her as a pet and not as an equal. He makes her wear a collar and sleep on the floor for gods sake. His behavior towards her is roughly equivalent to the behavior of Northerners towards blacks before the civil rights movement. They went out of their way to "prove" how they weren't a punch of racists like their Southern counterparts, but only succeeded in proving the exact opposite. It's even worse with the pony because she really isn't human. Making it all the easier to treat her like an animal. Which is what this guy is doing, even if he doesn't know it or pretends not to.
As long as she continues wear that collar she's nothing but "good nigger" in his eyes, and in the eyes everyone who looks at these pics and has no problem with what they contain. |

γδ - 34, rule 34, she is from 34-tread of Russian ponychan |
| Anonymous #963176 5 months ago |
And that matters because? |
| Stampede #966434 5 months ago |
Because then this is exactly what I was alluding to up there. A consensual master/slave relationship, as does exist in real life. How does one of them being a sentient pony make it any worse than when humans decide they want an unequal relationship? |
| Anonymous #969251 5 months ago |
What makes you think it's consensual? These are pics with no story attached to them, other then what they show. So what makes you so sure this is consensual? Or do you believe all ponies should naturally be subservient to humans? That master/slave is the natural order of things?
Anyways, this discussion hasn't been about the pic for quite awhile, but about humanity and their possible relationships with non-human thinking beings. If this man and pony entered into this relationship willingly, then that's fine, that's their choice. However what these series of pis showcases is mankinds belief that the master/slave relationship is the default relationship. That whenever a human enters into a relationship with a non-human the human is in total control and the non-human is merely property. And that is the problem. How can you even claim it's consensual in such a situation? You can't. Unless of course you hold to the same belief, Stampede. Which I suspect, you do. . . |
| Stampede #970300 5 months ago |
That paragraph was rather convoluted to the point I'm not even sure what you are accusing me of. Do I think general enslavement of ponies is good? Hell no, and that's all the more I will say on the subject.
It's art, therefore it is open to interpretation. You see it in the most negative light, while I see it in the most positive, and we are not going to change each other's minds on the subject because both interpretations are valid. |
| Anonymous #971115 5 months ago |
We most certainly won't. As long as you continue to see anything positive in a pony/human relationship of this nature we'll never find common ground.
I'd agree that my previous post isn't all clear, and that I was lot harder on you then you actually deserved. But I suppose that's to be expected when I post when I'm angry and tired. |
| Stampede #972758 5 months ago |
Well, that's okay. I hope we can just agree to disagree.
Just one last question. Would you find the reverse situation as disturbing? Like, if the art depicted Fluttershy treating a (seemingly happy) human as a pet? |
| Anonymous #974001 5 months ago |
Yes and no. I love ponies but have a deep hatred of humanity in general so a pony pet angers me more, but even so no thinking being should be kept as a pet as the default relationship. Even if it is a filthy human. It's fine on a case by case bases if both partys are ok with it, but it should never be considered the normal way of doing things. |
| Stampede #974099 5 months ago |
Agreed. It should not be the normal way of doing things, but if a human wanted to be the pet of a pony, or vice verse, or even human pet to human or pony pet to pony, it shouldn't be viewed as wrong unless it becomes abusive. I've known humans in such relationships and I don't view them as wrong just...kinda weird. Weird does not mean bad. After all, we're kinda weird for liking ponies.
It's good you can acknowledge your prejudice against humans though. We do kinda suck sometimes. I think this has really gone as far as it can go, but I'm glad to see we have reached an understanding of each other's positions even if we don't agree. What other fandom can work like that? |
| Anonymous #974114 5 months ago |
None that I can think of. It's just the power of MlP:FIM at work. |
