Dear Applejack. If left to your own devices, the Apple family would have lost that bet. Until Twilight bailed your arrogant asses out of the fire, the Flim Flam's cider was, indeed, just as good as your own. You didn't win because of "honest and hard work". You won because your opponents were overly cocky, which my student, not you, was able to exploit. |

She never said they won because of "honest and hard work". They won because "if you take your time to do things the right way, your work will speak for itself." Also; "Sure I could tell you I learned something about how my friends are always there to help me, and I can count on them no matter what, but truth is, I knew that already too." |

So ... "hard and honest work" isn't effectively the same as "take your time to do things the right way"? Perhaps I shouldn't have put quotation marks around it, but they're still pretty much the same concept.
Also; The ponies are supposed report on things that they have DISCOVERED about the friendship of magic. Writing to your goddess to brag about how awesome you are is needless egotism. The POINT is that the Apple family WOULD have lost the bet fair and square if left to their own devices. Twilight's plan and the brother's arrogance is what saved the farm. Victory had little to do with "doing things the right way" and was only partially based on "friends being there to help me." Applejack was too arrogant to even realize that she basically got lucky. |

I loved the ending at this episode, I never liked them to begin with, but more ignored them, but this one was great!
