I actually like the Flim-Flam brothers; they had an amazing invention that seem to work (See Granny Smith's face when she taste the pre-contest batch) and they left amicably when they realized that Ponyville wasn't going to work.

I think "Can't win 'em all" fits the Flim Flam Brothers pretty well.

There was definitely a bit of huckster to them, but yeah, their machine did work (as long as you didn't put it into overdrive), and while they may have been sneaky, they didn't do anything outright illegal.

@B2C

I would agree, they were great. Perhaps a bit to willing to sacrifice quality when things got tough, but their method was superior to the Apple family's.

A real lesson that could have been learned would be if the Apple family took note of this despite their personal dislike of the brothers.

Or the Apple family could just hire the Mane 6 for making cider at an even faster pace than the machine.

The machine is less labor-intensive.

Did you somehow miss the part where they stole some of the Apple family apples on their second appearance? Really, Granny Smith should have had them ran out of town after that..

Serious response: The Flim-Flam brother's DID have a really good machine, much like how factories and modern technology can be a really good thing.

The problem is that they ignored the human and ecological cost, as well as end-result in product quality, to make a profit.

In essence all of early Industrialization and a problem with rampant capitalism.

Non-serious answer: The last panel should've been a pic of Braeburn smiling and saying "ME TOO :D"

The Bros were a bunch of greedy jerks(Charismatic greedy jerks, but still jerks nonetheless), and the only reason they left is because they knew Ponyville was pissed at how they treated a family they effectively bankrupted.

@855: The human (or pony) cost sorts itself outm the ecological cost was a nonfactor until they switched it to maximum overdrive, and mediocre is usually good enough; RBD was right when she said that high quality was useless without supply.
