I know! Cherry Jubilee was mad at the Mane 6 for leaving work without any notice and destroying a ton of cherries, so she sent her cousins the Flim Flam brothers (admit it, the three have a small resemblance) to muck things up for AppleJack. Quick some one make a comic of that! |

Hey, they weren't jerks.
Gilda, Blueblood, Diamond Tiara and Trixie are jerks. These guys weren't nice, but it was for the sake of business. |

They may have been cads, but they don't inspire the same urge to "redeem" or "demonize" as most of the other side-characters.

I still have a hard time hating them. They're villains for sure, but they didn't try to scam anyone at all. They're greedy as fuck for demanding a 75-25 split between them and their suppliers--it makes absolutely no sense for them to do that, and it's so illogical that it seems as if it was added for no other reason than to make them the "villains." |

They were a little underhanded and definitely greedy, but not outright crooks. Loved their song, found them moderately entertaining otherwise.
As for Trixie, who is my second-favorite antagonist so far (behind Discord), sure she was putting on an act, but she also went further in humiliating her challengers than necessary (or, IMHO, wise). So yeah, she's a jerk. |

I don't think they're that bad
Sure, they demanded a bigger cut, but they were honest about it. Their machine's cider, in normal circumstances, probably tasted great, but nopony ever drank it's good cider because they panicked when the Apple Clan was suddenly doing much better. The worst thing they did was gloat after they won. |

They were jerks, but that doesn't mean they weren't likable. Most lovable and entertaining dicks since Discord, in my humble opinion.
Probably partially because they might've been able to make a decent living if they weren't so stupidly evil and overconfident. |

This show seems to LOVE villains who are much better than the main characters but who fail due to their own hubris and stupidity. Hell, if F&F simply tossed separately and discarded the bad cider from their initial good batches, they would've won because of their much more efficient business model. Hell, they could probably build more of their machines and run the Apples out of business if they wanted to. |

Because that's often the case in life: Charismatic/overly-nice people are sometimes wolves in sheep's clothing, and sometimes people who seem strange, mean, or just plain bad are actually quite nice and friendly. Obviously, there are also mean people who look the part, and truly kind people that seem as such, but again, that's how life usually works.
