you have a very strong argument
but in here, those arguments can easily be invalided by it's a freaking kids show |
| Fuzzy_Logic #931088 5 months ago |
well one would think you could come to that conclusion from the first 3 minutes of the episode, where Rainbow Dash reveals (and applebloom later confirms) that every single day of every single cider season every single year they fail to produce enough cider to satisfy everyone in town.
And at the end of the episode it's made clear that the speed at which the cider was produced HAD NO ILL EFFECTS on its quality so granny was just spouting old lady bullshit, and they could've been providing enough all along. Yeah, bad at business for sure, but you dont need all those other details to figure that out :p |

because of magic. |

But then the episode wouldn't have happened. |

More like Apple Bloom and Granny Smith can't keep their mouths shut for their own good.
Them losing Sweet Apple Acres came in when Granny Smith literally bet the farm. |
| Anonymous #931115 5 months ago |
I also don't see how they're in danger of losing the farm if they don't sell all the cider. They own the land and the trees, they don't have to pay any labor, they don't even need harvesting tools, since they just buck off the apples! They should be making money hoof over fist. Maybe Big Macintosh's coke habit is killing them? |

You're thinking way too hard about this... |

Go and write a fanfic about it, dude! |

Did you miss AJ explicitly forbidding them from using the family apples, followed by the Brothers pointing out there're "plenty of apples in Equestria"?
The profit ratios just aren't that simple. In addition to the difference in raw production, you'll have to match the current sales against business lost to the now-competing Brothers as well as continuously shorted customers. |

Pride before profit, I reckon. |

If they thought it through, we wouldn't have gotten the hilarity of "I didn't learn anything!"
So I'm glad. |

We're not Congress. We shouldn't be arguing Economics of all things. |

WHAT ANON087 SAID !!! |
| liquidXTC #931201 5 months ago |
I don't think producing more cider would really mean more profit for the apple family.
If they fail to produce the amount of cider ponyville needs they can keep the price high. That's why they feared the competition so much in the first place. |

OP is hero.
Then again, Heinous is correct. |

This is the same family that think 1+1 is fancy mathematics. |

Anonymous said: AJ mentioned that cider sales keep them afloat during winter or something like that. |

Sweet Apple Acres obviously works on a very slim profit margin, and anything that disrupts their cash-flow could swiftly send the Apples into bankruptcy. I blame Celestia for burdening the small businesspony with stifling taxes to maintain her decadent rule up in Canterlot. |

FU OP take your fancy economic shit and shove it |

Actually the machine made 300% more than the apple family did. That's three for each one of their barrels. |
