I...actually get this reference.
This is from a chapter in "Finn Family Moomintroll", where the Moomin family goes on a picnic to an island that turns out to be inhabited by Hattifattiners, the little tube-sock looking fellows. Hattifattiners are attracted to electricity and gather wherever there's a thunderstorm. This particular bunch was doing some sort of arcane ritual involving a barometer, and the Moomins accidentally interrupted it. The Hattifattiners ended treeing the Moomins up a pole like in the picture. (You can't touch a Hattifattiner, especially when it's glowing. They're charged with electricity and will give you a nasty shock.) |
