Seriously, how is that even possible? Not to mention she's voicing a cartoon with a cast of OVER 99% FEMALE CHARACTERS and she just assumed "hmm better come up with a male voice"? She didnt even think to ASK? I like Derpy's voice, but good lord, that's inexcusable on a few levels <_< |

Mistakes are one thing, but "I was given a character, assumed what sex they were, did not bother to check, and didn't once think that maybe in this show with 99% female characters I was voicing a female" is practically willful ignorance, not a mistake. <_< |

Derpy's voice didn't sound male at all to me. It's rather gender-neutral now that I think about it.
I like it this way. Rainbow Dash shouldn't be the only mare with a not-so-feminine voice. |

I'm inclined to believe that voices like that probably have to, you know, go through a voice director at some point before the episode goes to broadcast. Maybe instead of acting like Tabitha made some sort of lapse in judgment, how about you stop for a second and ask yourselves 'If that's the voice they ended up with, then that must mean that's the voice that the voice director thought was best right? So does that mean whatever she had going on in her head when she came up with the voice has no real bearing on the final product?' The answer to both of those questions is yes. |

Voice actors get a script they hav to read. I doubt get a longwinded explanation of the scenario they are voicing for. It is not their responsibility to find out the details of a character. It is the responsibility of the staff to provide them with that.
I don't know the details of how show staff are managed, but I can tell you that any organizational plan where a voice actor has to go around and ask the writers and such about their character is a terrible system that would make no sense to implement. Tabitha did not screw up, somebody else did. They probably just assumed she knew Derpy was a mare. |
