-bigot trying to use "homosexuality is not the majority, therefore bad" plus canon not making the controversial move (thanks to the aforementioned idea, or even worse ones of the same nature, being all too common in this country) to imply that homosexuals don't exist in equestria, then using that to say that to make any fanon pair that isn't heterosexual is going against canon. Next comes the "forcing to accept that homosexuality exists", saying that to think something is the way it is in real life, without canon confirmation, is somehow directed specifically at people who choose the far less likely possibility that canon has chosen something completely different than real life without showing that it's different. -people attempting to call them out on it, only reinforcing the idea that the "homosexual agenda" (apparently consisting of "we actually exist and are people just like everyone else", because apparently wanting to be treated like everyone else is unreasonable) has targeted him, the innocent victim as he would hav it, for hatred. There is a time for saying I disagree with your opinion, no need to be nasty about it. There is a time for saying your opinion is factually incorrect, you shouldn't be so stupid/ignorant/lazy about research/whatever. There is a time for saying your opinion should be ridiculed for one reason or another (e.g. the Derpy rage, in which suddenly anyone with an unusual voice and an eye disability is automatically stupid and therefore by pairing that voice with stupidity is stereotyping). Then there is a time for saying that your viewpoint is bigoted because it treats me as a disease to be cured, yet I hav harmed noone with the reason I am as such, and that you do it only because I am different from you. This is the last on the list. We must not tolerate such intolerance. If this were racism or sexism instead of discrimination against homosexuals, I bet you that we wouldn't even be having this discussion (of course, a direct analogy is impossible since canon actually has made it clear that other races and sexes do exist). |

Don't expect people to tolerate prejudice merely for the sake of "tolerance." Nobody does that, and nobody should--such mindless tolerance is no different from complete apathy.
Real tolerance involves active consideration of whether a certain perspective is, if not agreeable, at least harmless and not disruptive. Homophobia certainly isn't harmless, but worse is how the OP is so outspoken about it. She started her own little crusade, but can't stand it when her declared enemy doesn't welcome her with open arms. Essentially, she's angry that other people aren't loving enough to accommodate her hate. How pathetic. |
