Bullshit. Only way this works is if she is just that new, a regular pony that has stumbled upon vast power. Would still be obnoxious, but at least forgivable with time. And it would provide some interesting canon, with the implication that any pony can rise to alicorn status. Or, they could go the lulzy route and have Cadence as a fraud, and she's actually just a pegasus trying to be extra special for her man. Could be a moral lesson in there too. |

I think she's kind of cute. If she's got a likable personality, I probably won't care that she's an alicorn. I honestly wouldn't mind too much if it turns out that alicorns are royalty, and Celestia and Luna are special cases. |

It's been confirmed by multiple sources on the show that they are essentially goddesses. Another alicorn takes away some of the mystique that Luna and Celestia have as the only Alicorns in equestria. But like I said earlier I'm withholding extreme judgement until she appears. |

Of course, they could just be using the Alicorn as their form of choice because it represents the unity of all three races. Alicorns very well might be a race of their own as well. |

It's never been acknowledged in the show that there are only two alicorns. And we don't even know if alicorns like Celestia and Luna are gods/deities or just really powerful and long-living. And about them controlling the heavens, the normal unicorns did it themselves before Celestia came to power. |

Some of you seem to be forgetting something about Alicorns: they use Unicorn magic to do their deeds. Opening of the first damn episode even says so.
Alicorns probably got where they are because they're fucking intimidating looking. Twice even Big Mac's size, plus a massive wingspan and horn, you bet everypony else would be scared. |

Mind you, we know next to absolutely nothing as for what was and what wasn't before the Pre-Classical Era. You know, I'm fine with the anxiety and all, but I think some people aren't giving the creators enough credit.
Instead of saying "Let's see how the creators can do it, we trust them", people are going "Let's see how the creators can mess it up". I mean, we're going into the 50+ episodes of the show soon and they've done an awesome job and great service to the fans. It just seems insulting to me that some fans are expecting the worst instead of giving them the benefit of the doubt. I don't care what they'll do with Alicorns. They could control their own planets or hell, they can just be another magical race of ponies. I have faith in the cartoonists. Unlike some people who wants to make it into a spectator sport of wanting to see them fail. |

There is no real context other than the intro. But it never said anything about them being deities. It just showed that they were in power at one point. I 'get' why people get all sentimental and wistful about the mythical qualities of Celestia/Luna, but let's face it: Everything in the show is ridiculously, insanely powerful magic-wise. Twilight even had a Phoenix Force moment and Discord pretty much is undefeatable. I'm pretty certain there will be more and more super powerful creatures and ponies. |

Just about everything in the show has suggested that the alicorns are essentially demi-gods... :/
There are other demi-gods too, mind you, such as Discord, but they're still gods nonetheless... They're not just rulers because of their appearance... They have far more magical power than any regular unicorn, they live for friggin' ever, they control night and day, they're gods for godsake. The one instance of regular unicorns controlling night and day in the HWE episode was probably just for the sake of telling a story, and even then it appeared that they needed more than one unicorn to do so... ... Yes, I'm over-analyzing a cartoon about magical ponies for girls. But you know what, that's part of the fun of this fandom, is getting into the world of Equestria... It's fun to flesh out the little technical details of the pony universe, but a lot of you don't seem to get that and just criticize people for it... |
