@#914664: I don't understand where the mailmare thing came from, either. The muffins thing was already stupid enough, but her being a mail carrier came out of nowhere. She was in a gag involving a moving van. Moving van = delivery truck = postal service = mail carrier? If that's the line of logic behind Derpy's fans have done her proud-- because it's pretty darned stupid.
I'm not prepared to say that it's dumber than the muffins meme though... Seriously, she was one of several ponies to mouth "muffins," and suddenly "ZOMG SHE'S THE PONY WHO'S CRAZY ABOUT MUFFINS!" Never mind the only muffin she has canologically eaten gave her food poisoning, which is more likely to result in an aversion to muffins than an obsession with them. |

While we're discussing the "WTF" aspects about some of Derpy's popular fanon, why is she always getting shipped with Doctor Whoof? It's such a random pairing, and I don't think they're particularly cute as a couple. Plus, if we go with the fanon that Doctor Whoof is the ponified version of The Doctor, I don't think he'd be able to easily put up with Derpy leaving the innards of TARDIS half-demolished every few hours.

well Derpy, its a matter of us not knowing you well. If you gave us observers a little time to get to know you better, I am sure we could all be better informed. I can sympathise with the problem of terrible experiences blunting enjoyment of associated stimuli, but it usually lessens over time. |

First few comments are getting it wrong. Her "mail mare" job came from a very early fanfic in which 'Derpy' was a nickname and "Bright Eyes" was her real one. The fandom just took that and ran with it. The moving van scene just helped cement it over other early fanon ideas.
...But getting back on topic, yes "Muffins" is really over-used. |

Every aspect of the fanon involving background characters is over-used at some point. There's nothing to them so people latch onto anything they can and run with it. Lyra and Bon-Bon being in a relationship because they were seen together in a few scenes is on such example. |
