I'm gonna go ahead and say while I can't express how much I hope they either leave them as spitting-distance background ponies or leave them out altogether, I hold about zero expectation that they'll be confirmed in any real sense, and harbor some serious dread that in some scene where "everypony's got somepony", they'll be shown paired up with other ponies of the colt persuasion. Opinions? |

Pair them in the background as they have been doing from the beginning. I dont think they would risk making an implyied lesbian relationship in a tv programme for kids. |

I honestly have no idea.
The little "bedroom eyes" bit in Secret of my Excess seems to confirm that they know, but it might be a risk they're unwilling to take. I sure hope so though. |

Prediction: Bon-bon has been hanging around BM recently, and will be confirmed as his official fillyfriend in the Saint Valentine's Day episode despite the CMCs' failed attempt to pair him up with Cheerilee. Lyra will be omitted entirely from the "everypony's got somepony" scene. There will be tearful_lyra.jpg, and it won't be about cake. Fanon will either switch to Lyra+Cheerilee as OTP, or a OTThreesome, or ponies=polygynous. |

4. I think it's possible that one of them will be seen with a colt, but it's also just as possible that they won't even be in the episode, or they will just be scattered around as random background ponies like in most episodes.
I'd wager that the shot of them in Secret to My Excess is the closest you're ever going to see to a "ship tease" with these two in the show-- keep in mind many writers and animation houses work on this show, and while its possible that in the above episode a writer or animator intentionally put them together as fanservice, that's probably as far as they will ever get because Hasbro has to maintain the show's wholesome image. Not to mention that it's perfectly possible that one of the writers or animators for Hearts and Hooves Day might say "I think Bon Bon and Caramel are cute together. Let's make them one of the background couples in this restaurant scene." It would undoubtedly cause a shitstorm amongst slash fans, but I don't think the writers give a shit, and I think they'll do whatever they want as long as Hasbro approves (and Hasbro isn't going to say "the fans want this incidental background character to be a lesbian, so you can't show her having dinner with a stallion on Hearts and Hooves day."). |

@Tommymocacci: ^ This, more than anything else. Little girls heads are always swimming with ideas of finding "Mr. Right," which is why so much entertainment for girls is about romance. A lesbian couple would hold no interest to a young girl, which means that if they put one in the show it would be because that's what the adult men watching the show want to see.
Time and time again we've seen that Hasbro has nothing to lose by sticking to their guns in terms of the show's taget audience. The adult fans will still love the show even if Hasbro doesn't pander to them, but if Hasbro does start pandering then they risk alienating their primary audience of young girls. Every little girl daydreams about finding their prince charming, knight in shining armor, etc., and if Hasbro starts letting that into the show the adult fans will come to accept it. If they listened to the fandom and made Equestria a land where heterosexuality is obsolete and all reproduction is done through magic, then they'd have a shitstorm on their hands that would actually be worth worrying about because kids and and their parents would all be turning off the TV. |

They have have colts and mares in the show who are married, if anything if they paired them up in the background then you could see, they support homosexuality. I think so long they keep it in the background and obscure, things will turn out all right. After all, thus far the only people to have noticed their implied lesbian relationship is the fandom and even if they make it a touch more obvious (like a very short scene where you see them nuzzling or dancing by in the background) I don't think the Moral Guardians will notice. The key is to keep it background and not take any steps to point it out. That way the kids will never notice and never ask any questions, the Moral Guardians would never notice, and the fandom would notice.
Then again, I have no problem if even that doesn't happen. The fandom will always find a way, like we are desperately trying with Dinky... |
