uhh yea, SOPA and PIPA will protect his works.
However, if he's managed by an agency, he can't do anything with his works unless they approve. Recordings of the same must be approved for release by the same - no fan videos, even if they wanted them. You remember Megaupload? They hired some musicians to sing the MegaUpload song, and put it up on Youtube. Warner Brothers, their agent claimed copyright infringement. After showing proof that these singers put their contribution fairly, the song was reinstated. Under SOPA/PIPA - the song would be completely censured as Warner will have the final say, as the singers are under Warner's contract. Effectively puts them under a non-compete clause. |
