Hm, I don't think Euqestrians would really bother with archery. Earth ponies especially would have huge problems with anything that wasn't a crossbow. As the image shows, the bow carried on the leg would make walking or moving difficult as it would get in the way of the other foreleg.
The bow itself would require pointing fairly high for use in volleys, making an entire section of an army have to suddenly balance on three legs with one raised too high. Very impractical. I imagine earth ponies would instead have heavy armor and throwing spears or some other form of thrown weapon since as we've seen in an instance or two in show, ponies can throw things with just their mouths and a strong head-motion. However, it probably wouldn't go very far at all, making it possibly worse than the leg-mounted bow. If we're feeling industrious, maybe oversized heavy crossbows could be situated on one's back and manipulated through some sort of mouthpiece that can be grabbed and used as a trigger while a sight that hangs from the mechanism in front of the pony's face would help in gauging distances. At least, this is my assessment. I know nothing about armor. |

^I went into this thinking "how would war be different if 2/3 of the population had to use their mouth for tasks requiring dexterity?"
The answer? I have no clue. Put everything within reach of the neck and let them figure it out. |
